In over
60 years QUAD have only produced six ranges of products. Each of
the new series of products have taken advantage of the developments
in new technology, their latest 99 series and new electrostatic
loudspeakers continue in the tradition set by the companies founder
- Peter Walker. The name of QUAD has always been associated with
the "electrostatic loudspeaker" . Their first electrostatic
loudspeaker saw the light of day in 1956, when Peter Walker demonstrated
the first true full - range electrostatic loudspeaker. This was
launched on the awaiting public as the ESL-57. The ELS-57 remained
in production - virtually unchanged for 28 years only to be replaced
in 1981 by the now classic, reference standard ELS-63. Only now
as we enter the new millennium have the QUAD engineers launched
not just a replacement for the legendry ELS-63 (ELS-988) but also
a new flagship statement model the ESL-989. Now with the advent
of these two new speakers have QUAD put "the icing on the
cake" with the launch of a new Valve pre/power amplifier combination
- a grown up version of their legendry QUAD II ..................................

two monoblocks and line-only preamplifier.
Like their loudspeakers, QUAD have also been at the forefront of amplifier
design, through innovative models such as the QUAD II power amplifier, the
33 Control and 303 power amplifier to the radical 405 current dumping amplifier
launched in 1975, which lives on today in the 909 power amplifier. QUAD
's new range of electronics - the 99 Series offers a high degree of flexibility
and high sonic performance in a compact modern design. The combination of standard
phono and QUAD Link connections gives the system the ability to connect an
almost unlimited number of sources, through the 99 Series pre-amplifier. A
range of 3 power amplifiers are offered, 99 Stereo Power Amplifier (90 wpc),
99 Mono Power Amplifier (150 wpc) and the latest "current dumper" the
909 Stereo Power Amplifier (140 wpc). For source components there is the 99
FM Tuner (BUS powered), 99 CD Player ( BUS powered), has now been joined by
the 99 CDPre - all digital pre amplifier (mains powered).
